¼â½ÐÊÓÆµ University’s Master of Science in Applied Mathematics is designed for students who want to apply advanced mathematical tools to solve real-world problems in fields like finance, data science, and engineering. Unlike the traditional master’s in mathematics, this program focuses less on theoretical courses and more on practical, application-driven learning. Students will take four core courses in their first year, including Applied Statistics, Introduction to Applied Mathematics, and Partial Differential Equations. Beyond the core courses, students can choose from electives, allowing them to tailor their studies to their career interests.

The program also offers flexibility for those who may not be able to commit to a full course load each semester. Additionally, the interdisciplinary nature of the program allows students to take select courses from the Dolan School of Business and the School of Engineering and Computing.

To graduate, students will complete a capstone project, working closely with faculty on a real-world problem that aligns with their career goals.

Coursework will occur mostly in-person with a few courses online.

The capstone is a project mentored by a faculty member of the department. The student can choose the faculty member and in consultation with them, can choose the project. Projects can be attached to a particular course but can also be in different topics.
