Holiday Happenings in Stag Country: December 2023

¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University students dressed snugly and enjoying hot chocolate at the annual on-campus Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.

In celebration of the holiday season, festive events are taking place on campus and at the downtown bookstore throughout the month of December.

¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University Glee Club
Annual Christmas Concert: "Sing We Now of Christmas"
Friday, Dec. 1 | 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 2 | 2 p.m.
Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts

Now in its 76th season of music, the concert repertoire includes Glenn L. Rudolph’s “The Dream Isaiah Saw,” the traditional “Night of Silence” by Daniel Kantor, as well as festive songs and carols. The performance will be conducted by Carole Ann Maxwell, DSM, with accompanist Beth Palmer and featuring the Festival Brass and Percussion Orchestra. Tickets for both performances are available for purchase using button links below.

Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony
Tuesday, Dec. 5 | 6:15 p.m.
Egan Chapel of St. Ignatius Loyola, Plaza
As the most wonderful time of the year descends up on the community, ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University will add to the merriment with the annual campus Tree Lighting Ceremony outside Egan Chapel. The event is free and open to the public.
The University will welcome the greater ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ community with hot chocolate and cookies as well as the Bubble and Brew food truck to warm spirits. The Bensonians and Sweet Harmony singing groups will perform songs of the season. Lucas and Santa will join the fun for pictures, and there will be a ¼â½ÐÊÓƵ Holiday Pop-Up Shop with gift essentials like ornaments, and the official “Wreathing of the Stag Statue.” 

¼â½ÐÊÓƵ University Downtown Bookstore Events:

  • Holiday Storytime with Mrs. Claus: Saturday, Dec. 2 | 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Holiday Shop & Stroll: Wednesday, Dec. 6 | 6 - 8 p.m.
    There will be mulled hot cider and cookies, live music, and complimentary gift wrapping to get into the holiday shopping spirit.
  • Face Painting with Mrs. Claus: Saturday, Dec. 9 | 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Balloon Art Twisting with Mrs. Claus: Saturday, Dec. 16 | 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Student Events:

Winter Wonderland
Saturday, Dec. 9 | 12-4 p.m.
Kelley Center Parking Lot
Students, join us for a winter festival featuring a beer garden, live music, Zuppardi’s Pizza, hot cocoa bar, nacho bar, make your own s’mores, and giveaways! This is a student only event. 

Additional December student events include the Multicultural Ball on Dec. 1, Comedian Joe Gatto on Dec. 2, a trip to NYC to see the Rockettes on Dec. 3, Santa’s Workshop on Dec. 4, an Ugly Sweaters Party on Dec 6, DIY Ornaments on Dec. 7, and Stuff a Stag on Dec 9.
